Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings- a whole 'nother set of soul and funk.
Here's a chair shaking cover to get you started:

WOW! Thank you for this gem!

I've been really getting into funk/soul/disco jams recently. I went to a NYE party where the DJ was spinning all of these disco edits (originals slightly edited to be more club-like with heavier bass and what not)!

Here is one of my guilty pleasure disco songs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSfHepsL9wI

Sharon Jones has depth and funk in ways that even James Brown would envy. I do not think that overstates the case. She is also from Augusta, GA originally. The woman goes way beyond disco. Her live performances will burn down the house.

Go see Sharon Jones. Best show I've ever seen. Soooo fun. They are doing a tour in April/May. Well worth the $25 or so a ticket will cost.

Here's a great link:

"Mardi Gras in Montreaux" by The Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

That show is an official release, so it's not available here at the Archive. But they do have quite a few shows hosted here, if anyone's interested.

Looking at my iTunes record, it was apparently Alice in Chains Dirt as the last full CD. More recently it was snippets of Beatles and Pink Floyd as the non-Dead stuff.

Cool! I saw Stevie Wonder only once, and it was just a few months earlier than the show you menttioned! I saw Stevie Wonder and his band "Wonderlove" opening for The Rolling Stones in July of 1972.
Stevie blew the Stones away, IMO. Opinions differ. (See articles below)
Stevie played three instruments, the harp, keyboards and drums, and generally just burned the place down!
